Tree Planting Exercise to Green Mazowe District
The Community Initiative Against Marginalisation Trust ColAM, has come up with a tree planting initiative for school students in Mazowe District in Mashonaland Central to plant at least a tree each and help replace millions of trees the country is loosing to illegal and uncoordinated deforestation and climate change induced biodiversity losses.
The organization is appealing for financial support, tree seedlings, fuel and any help in any form for them successfully host the premier event at Gunguhwe Primary and Secondary Schools on the 1st of May, 2020, in the district.
“CoLAM hopes to plant at least five thousand trees in the area as the area is fast becoming a desert due to deforestation,” said Mr. Virimayi Mandaza, the Community Initiative Against Marginalisation Trust founder and Chairman.
The tree planting excercise is expected to run with a theme, “ A tree today, a healthy community tommorrow” said Mr. Mandaza.
